DF Robot Gravity Edge AI Gesture Sensor

The DF Robot Gravity Edge AI Gesture Sensor is an intelligent, offline AI vision sensor designed for reliable contactless interaction through facial detection and hand gesture recognition. Capable of detecting faces (upper body above the shoulders) and accurately recognizing five predefined hand gestures at distances of up to 3 meters, this sensor enables intuitive, touch-free control in both private and public environments. All recognition is processed locally on the device, ensuring fast response times, privacy protection, and stable operation without reliance on cloud services.



Built for smart environments and human–machine interaction, the sensor excels in scenarios such as home automation, public information displays, healthcare facilities, and interactive installations. Facial detection provides real-time presence awareness, position tracking, and crowd counting, enabling intelligent behaviors such as activating displays when people are present or directing airflow from fans or air conditioners toward detected individuals. Gesture recognition focuses on mid-range, device-free control—allowing users to operate appliances, lighting, media playback, or call systems with simple, natural hand movements.



With support for both I2C and UART communication, wide voltage compatibility, and beginner-friendly graphical programming via MakeCode and Mind+, the Gravity Edge AI Gesture Sensor is easy to integrate into microcontroller projects while remaining powerful enough for advanced automation and smart control systems.
