Optocoupler with Triac Output Max 400V
The MOC3041M, in particular, is a triac output optocoupler. It is designed to interface low-voltage control signals (like those from microcontrollers or digital circuits) with higher-voltage or AC power loads up to 400V. The MC3041M has Zero crossing detection built in and this ensure smooth and efficient switching of power devices, such as Triacs or Thyristors. The MOC3041 TRIAC can deliver up to 1A peak current, which is sufficient to activate an external switch. Without an external switch, the TRIAC should not be utilized to switch loads.
