Type K Thermocouple
A Thermocouple is a sensor used to measure temperature. Thermocouples consist of two wire legs made from different metals. The wires legs are welded together at one end, creating a junction. Type K thermocouples generally will work in most applications because they are nickel based and have good corrosion resistance. Temperature range is from -270 °C to 1260 °C and an output of -6.4 to 54.9 mV over maximum temperature range.

Accuracy
Type K has a higher margin of error than other types of thermocouple wire, manufacturers that choose this type are generally willing to sacrifice accuracy for the wide range of sensitivity. Type K has a margin of error related to a percentage of the temperature measured. It is roughly 0.75‰ or 2.2°C, whichever is greater.
